After four years of absence, Toyota just brought back the Mark X GRMN sports sedan to the market; only 350 were produced. Vehicles use the Toyota Camry platform and cost nearly $ 50,000.
Toyota was surprised to bring back the Mark X GRMN sports sedan after more than four years of absence. Launched at the ongoing 2019 Tokyo Auto Salon, the new generation Mark X GRMN was created to follow the success of its predecessor generation in December 2014.
Toyota Camry is the definitive high-performance version with exceeding numbers in terms of power. This is the car completely redesigned by the famous car manufacturer. The new aerodynamic system includes the engine, transmission. The entire body and chassis were also adaptively enhanced.
At the rear, the Mark X GRMN is equipped with rear bumper with wind split wings, diffuser, and 4 round exhaust sports system. Other noteworthy equipment on the Mark X GRMN includes the small rear spoiler, white brake calipers with the GR logo. The Japanese carmaker also lowered its focus to lower cars to provide a sportier driving feel.
Customers can add a hood option with carbon CFRP reinforced plastic for $ 2,490. Toyota says this new hood is lighter than 10 kg. Inside the cabin, the car has a sports chair and leather-wrapped steering wheel with the GR logo. Besides, the interior is also decorated with glossy black details, suede material, alloy pedals, and carbon fiber.
Powering the Mark X GRMN is a 3.5L V6 engine that produces 313 horsepower (234 kW) and 380 Nm of torque. This car comes with 6-speed manual gearbox and rear drive system. To increase performance, Toyota has improved suspension with new dampers. The electric power steering system has also been modified to provide a more realistic driving experience.
According to Toyota, the Camry can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 3,3 seconds, which means it can go from 0 to 100 km/h within less than 3,5 seconds; and its maximum speed is 314 km/h.
The strong engine of the Toyota Camry can contain sufficient volume of fuel, with naturally injected gas system. The maximum productivity is stretched to 475 horsepower and the RPM limit is 9,000, alongside with the exclusive dual-clutch transmission system of PDK from Porsche.
Toyota only supplied 350 Mark X GRMN in the domestic market at the price of $ 47,336. Because Mark X GRMN 2014 version only produced 100 units, this generation Toyota produced more to please customers.
The car’s body is designed similarly to the predecessor with the special alloyed infrastructure. The front and back bodies have independent parts, however. Additionally, the Toyota Camry has a great body width compared to other similar cars at the back axis.
Mark X is a sports car based on the Camry platform but for customers who love rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive. Mark X was born in 2004 and is only for Japanese and Chinese markets (with the name Reiz – but has disappeared). After the launch of the first generation Mark X GRMN in 2014, Toyota Japan was quiet for four years despite this success.
